Ben & Jerry’s Presents FestivusTM...An Ice Cream For the Rest of Us
Burlington, VT -- Christmas. Hanukkah. Kwanzaa. Festivus? Seinfeld loyalists know that this is the time of year for Festivus, an annual holiday created by George Costanza’s father-a time for families to gather ’round and air their grievances, perform feats of strength, and admire the requisite Festivus pole (no tinsel, we find it distracting).
Leave it to the folks at Ben & Jerry’s to invoke the ghosts of Festivus’ past with an ice cream by the same name-a limited edition flavor that debuts on grocery store shelves and in Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops for the (more traditional) holiday season.
"We set out to be Seinfeld-worthy,” maintains Ben & Jerry’s flavor developer, Rob Douglas. “We pondered long and hard about what a holiday ice cream flavor should be-and yadda, yadda, yadda-Festivus was born. This flavor kicks fruitcakes ass!"
Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Each pint of Festivus contains a sassy batch of brown sugar cinnamon ice cream loaded with gingerbread cookies and a ginger caramel swirl.
Is Ben & Jerry’s Festivus flavor a worthy addition to the Seinfeld food ’Hall of Fame’? Marble Rye. Babka. Big Salad. Junior Mints. Mutton. ...you decide! Grab a pint and a spoon-scan the TV Guide for Seinfeld re-runs and settle in. Happy Festivus!
